In Loving Memory of Richard Andrew Forsythe

1934-2014

Richard Andrew Forsythe was born July 30, 1934, in Los Angeles, CA. After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, he was called to Heaven on June 23, 2014, while at home in Williamsburg, VA, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Richard was a man who loved everyone unconditionally. Those who knew him can attest to the fact that if you were around him for even a few minutes, you were sure to get one of his warm hugs. He was a faithful member of Relevant Church in Williamsburg, VA, where he was honored to hold the position of "Head Greeter." He genuinely loved his church family and was loved in return by all whose lives he touched.

Among his many talents, Richard was a skilled figure skater, an actor in local theatre and television commercials, a singer, and a self-taught pianist and composer. If there was a piano around, he truly was the "life of the party," inviting everyone to sing along with him. Over the past few years, he took great joy in performing at Alzheimer's care facilities, playing old tunes on the piano to the delight of the patients, many of whom would sing along. There was not an old song that he did not know.

Richard adored his family and is survived by his loving children, Susan Giandomenico of Williamsburg VA, and Steven Forsythe of Torrance, CA; his granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Jessica and Jeremy Yager of Williamsburg, VA, and Jolene Giandomenico and Eric Schurter of Henrico, VA; his great-grandsons, Elijah and Aiden Yager, who affectionately called him “Grampy” and “Biggie;" his sister, Marlene Lehmann of Moreno Valley, CA; his twin brother, Roger Forsythe of Wrightwood, CA; his brother, Eugene Forsythe of Torrance, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Richard’s memory to "The Richard Forsythe Memorial Fund for Pancreatic Cancer Research" at https://www.youcaring.com/richardforsythe.

As a devoted Christian for nearly 80 years, his final wish and prayer was to see the sweet face of Jesus. There is no doubt that he is now welcoming and hugging each person as they enter the gates of Heaven.
